چکیده
Foodborne contamination especially by Staphylococcus species is of concern as many isolates the genus have been reported for their multidrugs resistance. The study was aimed at determining antimicrobial resistance isolated from abattoir. A total 100 samples were collected five different surfaces; bucket swab, butchers hand table knife swab and meat four abattoirs in Rivers State, Nigeria. transported aseptically to laboratory immediate analysis. cultured on mannitol agar (MSA) using standard microbiology technique isolate species. Hemolysis test carried out susceptibilities against a panel 10 antibiotics determined Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method, multiple antibiotic (MAR) index determined. Out 43 abattoirs, 51.1% coagulase positive while 48.9% negative. 18.6% produced beta hemolysis 16.28% showed alpha hemolytic activity. amoxicillin (88.4%), zinnacef ampiclox receptrin (60.5%), streptomycin (37.2%), septrin erythromycin (34.5%), gentamicin (39.5%), ciprofloxacin (20.9%) perfloxacin (16.8%). multidrug (MAR index) that 2.35% complete all tested with MAR 1, 4.6% recorded 0.1, 0.2. Majority associated materials or equipment (such bucket, knife) used abattoir hands butcher are great medical hence there need regulate indiscriminate use antibiotics.

Background and objective: The treatment of bacterial infections especially of the family Staphylococcaceae is a significant health burden that has led to economic losses, and high morbidity and mortality rates globally. This study aimed at the isolation and characterization of coagulase-positive, methicillin, and multi-drug-resistant Staphylococci isolated from wounds of patients. Methods: Fo...
متن کاملAntibiogram, Adhesive Characteristics, and Incidence of Class 1 Integron in Aeromonas Species Isolated from Two South African Rivers
Aeromonas species are well distributed in freshwater environments, and their natural susceptibility to antimicrobials renders them interesting candidates for the survey of antimicrobial resistance in freshwater milieu. Water samples were collected from Kat and Tyume rivers in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, and a total of 45 isolates identified as Aeromonas species were recovered fro...
متن کاملMethicillin Resistant Profile of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Apparently Healthy Students in Edo State University Uzairue
Background and purpose: Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium that causes disease in humans due to its pathogenic nature and is more responsible for infections than other Staphylococcus species. Methicillin-resistance Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is resistant to antibiotics and such as penicillins, cephalosporins and their derivatives has β-lactam rings. This study aimed to isolate and investig...
